Mn/DOT readies roads for opening of I-35W St. Anthony Falls Bridge
ST. PAUL, Minn. —With the opening of the new Interstate 35 W St. Anthony Falls Bridge at 5 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, motorists can expect the following road conditions:
- Northbound Highway 280 ramp to Highway 36 and I-35W will change from two lanes back to one lane, allowing for two lanes on I-35W northbound and two lanes on Highway 36 eastbound.
- Ramps on I-35W at 4th Street will change from two lanes exiting and entering to one lane exiting and entering.
- Westbound lane on Washington Avenue Bridge will revert to an eastbound left turn to northbound I-35W.
- Lane striping on westbound I-94 to southbound I-35W has already been changed back.
- Westbound I-94 to southbound I-35W will merge into the right lane of southbound I-35W.
- County Road B and Broadway Avenue will remain closed to Highway 280 until spring 2009 at the earliest.
- The interchange at Larpenteur Avenue and Hennepin Avenue will not change at this time. A construction project in spring 2009 will reconstruct this interchange.
