MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. —The Minnesota Department of Transportation and FIGG Bridge Engineers will host members of the community for an all-day Bridge Design Charette for the St. Anthony Falls (Interstate 35W) Bridge Replacement Project starting at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007. Media are welcome to attend.
Linda Figg, Director of Bridge Art for FIGG, will lead the interactive community workshop with members of the bridge design team on hand to discuss various design options for the bridge. Participants — including residents, artists and designers, business owners, neighborhood leaders and elected and appointed government officials — will share their opinions and select preferences among design options. Combined with public feedback from recent Mn/DOT open houses and other opportunities, the Charette will solidify design decisions on the bridge pier, railings, color, landscaping and lighting.
