ST.PAUL, Minn.
-- Lt. Governor Carol Molnau, who also serves as Mn/DOT Commissioner,
today announced the appointment of Bob McFarlin as Assistant to
the Commissioner for Transportation Policy and Public Affairs. McFarlin,
who will report to the Commissioner, will lead Mn/DOT policy efforts
for the Pawlenty-Molnau administration. In addition to his leadership
on policy initiatives, he will direct the offices of Government
Relations and Communications.
"Bob's wealth of experience in government, public affairs and
transportation will be a valuable asset in furthering the Pawlenty-Molnau
administration's goal of improving Minnesota's transportation infrastructure
and ensuring accountability at Mn/DOT," said Lieutenant Governor/Mn/DOT
Commissioner Molnau.
McFarlin is a 22-year veteran in public affairs and government relations
on the local, state and national level. He holds a master's degree
from the University of Minnesota in Speech Communication, a degree
in Business Administration, and life-long accreditation as a public
relations professional. From 1992 to 1999, McFarlin served as Mn/DOT's
Director of Public Affairs and as Chief of Staff, providing counsel
on issues management, government relations and policy analysis and
development. Previous to accepting this appointment, McFarlin served
as founder and president of MCF Consulting Group. During that time,
he worked on local and national transportation-related issues.
McFarlin will
join Mn/DOT on Monday, March 3, 2003.
