2017 Construction update week of June 5
Engineer's Weekly Update
- CSM completed pavement removals in Cells X05 and X06. Existing OGAB Special in Cell X06 was also completed.
- Cell X06 subgrade was toleranced and Class 5Q aggregate base placed in the passing lane. Final placement will be made when MnROAD personnel finalize installation of handholes, vaults, and conduits in the subgrade.
- MnROAD personnel are installing handholes and vaults in Cell X06. Preparation of dynamic load strain gages and joint opening sensors is complete. Work is beginning on the vibrating wire strain gages.
- CSM is performing pavement removals in Cell X24..
Concrete paving is currently envisioned to occur in the following order: X24 (early opening), X06 (reconstruct with FRCP), and X05 (unbonded with FRCP). Exact timeframe for paving is uncertain pending mix design results. However, the look-ahead schedule shows base trimming and sensor installation the week of June 19.
