2017 Construction update week of June 12

Engineer's Weekly Update

  • Monday, June 12, 2017
    • Removal of in place pavement and aggregate base in Cells X24 was completed by C.S. McCrossan.
    • MnROAD personnel began splice vaults and handholes installation in Cells X06.
  • Tuesday, June 13, 2017
    • MnROAD personnel continued installing subsurface conduit in the subgrade of Cell X06.
    • Preparation of dynamic and static strain gages continued.
    • CSM completed removal of porous PCC in Cell 85.
  • Wednesday, June 14, 2017
    • CSM pre-break curb and gutter and cast-in-place drains in Cell 89. Subgrade in Cell X24 was
      toleranced, and Class 5Q aggregate base on Cell X06 spread across entire width.
    • MnROAD personnel prepared for conduit on the existing concrete pavement for proposed unbonded concrete overlay in Cell X05 by extracting cores in the morning.
    • Subgrade in Cell X06 too wet in morning for MnROAD personnel to complete conduit installation; work was finished in the afternoon.
  • Thursday, June 15, 2017
    • MnROAD personnel working on handhole installation in Cell X24.
    • CSM continuing to pre-break concrete in Cell 38. Cell X06 aggregate base material bladed and toleranced today.
  • Friday, June 16, 2017
    • CSM expects to be removing pre-broken concrete pavement from Cells 38 on Friday. Cell 39 concrete removal expected to be Monday, June 19.
    • MnROAD personnel will continue installing subsurface infrastructure for sensors on Cell X24.
  • Look-ahead
    • See the attached look-ahead schedule provided by CSM today at the meeting.
    • CSM expects to be removing pre-broken concrete pavement from Cells 38 tomorrow (Friday). Cell 39 concrete removal expected to be Monday, June 19.
    • Concrete paving schedule has changed a bit. It is currently envisioned to occur in the following order: X06 (reconstruct with FRCP), X24 (early opening), and X05 (unbonded with FRCP). Base trimming, sensors, and paving on Cell X06 are expected to happen next week (June 19).
    • Paving on Cells X38 and X39 anticipated after July 4.
