Ramp closures on I-94 will impact MnPASS motorists, transit and carpoolers who use the I-394 reversible lanes

Beginning Monday, May 8 changes on westbound I-94 in Minneapolis will affect MnPASS customers who use the reversible lanes on I-394. Beginning Monday, May 8 through June 12, westbound I-94 to westbound I-394 will be reduced to a single lane. All motorists traveling on westbound I-94 to westbound I-394 will use the I-394 HOV/Reversible Lanes.

MnPASS customers will not be charged a fee to use the westbound I-394 Reversible Lane during this time as the lanes will be open to all motorists traveling on westbound I-94 to westbound I-394. MnPASS fees and regulations on westbound I-394 will begin west of Hwy 100. Motorists traveling from DT Minneapolis to westbound I-394 will use the general purpose lanes on westbound I-394.

Eastbound I-394 MnPASS customers will not have access to the reversible lanes. During this time, the I-394 Reversible Lanes will be closed to all eastbound I-394 and Hwy 100 traffic. All eastbound I-394 traffic between Hwy 100 and I-94 will be on the general purpose lanes on I-394.

While this is a temporary inconvenience for motorists, it is the best option for repairing and improving a bridge while keeping traffic moving through a busy interchange. Construction crews are closing the eastbound I-94 to westbound I-394 ramp and the ramp from Lyndale Ave to westbound I-394 so they can work on the bridges that support the ramps. Putting all of the westbound I-94 to westbound I-394 traffic onto the reversible lanes while crew work proved to be the best option for keeping traffic moving.
