Summer Work Zone Safety

See Orange. We're in the WORK ZONE Together.

There are many things to look for in summer work zones. They can be: cones, barrels, workers with vests, concrete barriers, vehicles with flashers, heavy equipment, traffic control devices, mowers, sweepers, flaggers and road signs.

Worker Safety:
Each year thousands of highly skilled highway workers improve and maintain Minnesota's roads and bridges. Their job is a difficult and exceptionally dangerous. Minnesota's road workers face danger daily and want to return home safely to their families. Please do your part by using caution near work zones, watch for workers and equipment and prepare for the unexpected.

Motorist Safety:
In the last 10 years, 98% of all people who have died in work zone crashes have been motorists. The major cause has been motorists crashing into the rear-end of road crew equipment or vehicles. When traveling through a work zone, follow the speed limit, leave adequate space between vehicles, watch for sudden stops and prepare for the unexpected. Your life may depend on it.

Before you venture out, take some time to review our summer driving tips.
