Where did the name "Wakota" bridge come from and what does it mean?

A name the bridge contest was
held back in the early 1960's.
The winning submittal was
the name "Wakota", which
is a combination of the
county names Washington
and Dakota. The winner
received a $200 Dollar
Savings Bond.
