Hwy 36 between White Bear Avenue
and Hwy 120 (Century Avenue) in North St. Paul is now completely
open to traffic.
Also open:
- Entrance and exit ramps between Hwy 36 and
McKnight Road
- Margaret Street Bridge over Hwy 36
Final completion of the project is slated for the fall of 2008
The goals of this project were to rebuild Hwy 36 between White
Bear Avenue and Century Ave (Highway 120), and to increase safety and improve access
through Maplewood and North St. Paul.
- A diamond interchange at Hwy 36 and McKnight Road (County
Highway 68)
- A bridge to carry traffic on Margaret Street over
Hwy 36.
- A pedestrian
bridge over the highway to enhance safety for users of the Gateway Trail and eliminate some at-grade crossings
on the trail.
- Eliminated six at-grade intersections at Charles St., Margaret St., 1st St., 2nd St.,
3rd St. and McKnight Rd.
- Built auxiliary lanes for east and westbound Highway
36 between White Bear Ave. and McKnight Rd.
- Added a frontage
road from McKnight Rd. to First Street.
