About this study

The Snelling Avenue Multi-Modal Transportation Plan was a study of Trunk Hwy 51 (also known as Snelling Avenue) between Selby Avenue and the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in the City of Saint Paul. The study assessed the safety and mobility needs of the corridor and investigated feasible multi-modal transportation solutions for meeting those needs. This effort was a joint undertaking of MnDOT, Ramsey County and the City of Saint Paul. The study addressed both short-term and long-term solutions.

Two advisory committees were working with the partner agencies and a consultant team to complete the Snelling Avenue Multi-Modal Transportation Plan:

The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC)was made up of staff members from a number of partner agencies including MnDOT, Ramsey County, the City of Saint Paul, Metropolitan Council and Metro Transit. The TAC was charged with providing technical input to the study and reviewing the technical work of the consultant team.

The Snelling Avenue Task Force was made of representatives from District Councils, business organizations, advocacy groups, advisory committees and other key stakeholders. The Task Force was charged with providing community input to the study and reviewing recommendations of the consultant team.

Work on the Snelling Avenue Multi-Modal Transportation Plan began in February 2012 and was scheduled for completion by the end of January 2013. See schedule details (PDF 72 KB).
