I-35/I-35E Improvements

The majority of work is likely to result in significant delays. Please be patient and expect temporary lane closures and detours as work is completed within each segment of roadway. Speeds reduced to 55 miles an hour.

All businesses and residences will remain accessible throughout the project. No two adjacent intersections will be closed simultaneously.

Lane closures

I-35

  • Currently - April 27
    Both directions of I-35 between the I-35/35W/35E Split and County Road 2 are fully open to traffic. Work will resume spring 2014.
  • April 28 - May 26
    Both directions of I-35 between County Road 50 and County Road 70 will be single lane traffic traveling head-to-head on the northbound lanes.

About this project

Summary of work

The travel lanes, shoulders, ramps and bridges along I-35 and I-35E between Elko and Eagan are in need of repairs. This project will address and improve these areas. A business liaison will work with local businesses to address specific concerns with construction.

  • Smoother ride and extended road life while reducing short-term maintenance costs
  • Updated pedestrian crossings will meet modern ADA standards
  • Drainage will be improved where needed
  • Repair and paint bridges where needed
  • Other repairs will be made under required closures to minimize any necessary inconvenience
  • Extend acceleration lane from CR 50 ramp to northbound I-35 to help improve flow. Review layout of acceleration lane extension (PDF, 2.3 MB)
