About these projects

Two drainage improvement projects are scheduled on Hwy 8 in Chisago and Washington Counties.  The first project is located on a six-mile section of Hwy 8 from Hwy 61 in Forest Lake to just north of 275th St. in Chisago City. The second project is on Hwy 8 between mile post 20 and mile post 21, south of Taylors Falls.

The work will address old drainage infrastructure along the highway and includes work on culverts, storm systems, and structures. The project also includes roadside safety work including guardrail upgrades and slope flattening at driveways and connecting roads.

Summary of work

August through September 2018

Hwy 8 between Hwy 61 in Forest Lake and just north of 275th St. in Chisago City

  • Repair or replace drainage structure
  • Line, replace and/or extend culverts
  • Update drainage filtration
  • Flatten slopes
  • Upgrade guardrail
  • Remove trees as needed

September 2018

Hwy 8 between mile post 20 and mile post 21 south of Taylors Falls

  • Replace existing drainage pipe
  • Scale loose rock
  • Rebuild lower section of pipe
  • Stabilize pipe connections
