The environmental impacts of the Hwy 55 project are documented in an Environmental Assessment/Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EA/EAW). An EA/EAW is a joint federal/state document that is used to determine the potential for significant social, economic and environmental impacts.

Environmental Impact Statement
The comment period for the EA/EAW concluded May 9, 2008. The Federal Highway Administration issued a "Finding of No Significant Impact" on December 30, 2008. MnDOT issued a "Negative Declaration" on the need for an Environmental Impact Statement on January 5, 2009.
