Schedule

Accessibility improvements and resurfacing of Snelling Avenue (Hwy 51) between Hwy 5 (7th Street) and Dayton Avenue is scheduled to begin in early summer 2012 and be completed by fall 2012.

Work will begin with accessibility improvements.  During the accessibility improvements, no two intersections will be worked on at the same time and pedestrian/bicycle detours will be marked. Motorists will encounter occasional delays during lane closures and shoulder closures.

Once work is done on the intersections, the surface of the existing blacktop pavement will be removed and replaced with new blacktop. Crosswalks will be reinstalled in numerous locations throughout the project area.

NOTE: The stretch of Snelling Avenue between Grand Avenue and St. Clair Avenue will not be worked on since it was resurfaced in 2010.

Benefits

When completed, pedestrians will have safer access to cross Snelling Avenue and a new driving surface will increase safety and improve the road for motorists.
