Project Information
- Resurfacing of Snelling Avenue (Hwy 51) between Hwy 5 (7th Street) and Dayton Avenue will begin in mid-June and be completed in August 2012. (The segment of between Grand Avenue and St. Clair Avenue will not be worked on since it was resurfaced as part of the 2010 median improvement project).
Benefits
- The surface of the existing blacktop pavement will be removed and replaced with new blacktop
- Accessibility improvements along the corridor—including wider curb cuts, truncated domes, Audible Pedestrian Signals (APS)
- Bike shoulders are being extended on Montreal Avenue from Edgcumbe Road to West 7th Street
Crosswalks to be reinstalled:
- Dayton Ave, Selby Avenue, Hague Avenue, Laurel Avenue, Ashland Avenue
- Portland Avenue, Summit Avenue, Grand Avenue, St. Clair Avenue, Stanford Avenue
- Jefferson Avenue, Palace Avenue, Randolph Avenue
- Niles Avenue, Watson Avenue, Hartford Avenue, Bayard Avenue
- Scheffer Avenue, Highland Parkway, Ford Parkway, Bohland Avenue
- Saunders Avenue, Rome Avenue, Montreal Avenue, Edgcumbe Road, Juniper Lane.
Construction schedule:
No two intersections will be worked on at the same time during the accessibility improvements, and pedestrian/bicycle detours will be marked. Motorists will encounter occasional delays during lane closures and shoulder closures.
