Road closures

  • Short-term full road closures during off-peak hours to allow for the delivery of construction material
  • Head-to-head traffic on the eastbound lanes (south side) of the Hwy 5 bridge spring 2015 through fall 2015
  • Head-to-head traffic on the westbound lanes (north side) of the Hwy 5 bridge spring 2016 through fall 2016
  • The Hwy 5 bridge will reopen to two lanes of traffic on each direction during winter 2015 and 2016

Future traffic impacts

Pedestrian/bicyclist closures

  • Sidewalk on the south side of the bridge will close spring 2016 through fall 2016
  • Periodic short term closures of the pedestrian/bicycle/vehicle path beneath Hwy 5 during bridge construction

Pedestrian/bicyclist detours

  • When the westbound Hwy 5 bridge is closed, cyclists and pedestrians will be detoured to the Ford Parkway Bridge or the I-35E bridge. The pedestrian/bicycle roadway will reopen after construction.
