Project summary
A 2012 resurfacing and repair project on Hwy 21/Broadway Street between Mill Street in Jordan and Hwy 169 in Sand Creek Township.
All ramps connecting Hwy 21 to Hwy 169 will also be resurfaced. Crosswalks and other pedestrian features will be improved to meet modern ADA requirements, drainage will be improved and other repairs will be made as necessary while lanes are closed for construction.
The project also proposes to upgrade intersections with “bump outs,” a road design option that, when properly installed, offers several transportation and development advantages. Bump outs have been used in other communities known for their retail/shopper-friendly business districts and will help make downtown Jordan a more pedestrian-friendly destination. See examples of bump outs.
Traffic impacts
Hwy 21 will remain open, and all businesses will remain accessible during construction. Expect lane closures and possible detours.
