The new Hwy 610 roadway is a 2.74 mile long, four-lane highway from Hwy 169 in Brooklyn Park to County Road 81 in Maple Grove.

Background
Construction of Hwy 610 between Hwy 169 in Brooklyn Park and Hennepin County Road 81 in Maple Grove began in October, 2009. The project was funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and was selected by the Metropolitan Council to receive ARRA funds. The project uses the Design-Build method of construction.
Hwy 610 was originally proposed during the mid-1960s. Route studies began during the 1970s, and the first sections were constructed during the mid-1980s.
Construction of Hwy 610 from Hennepin County Road 81 to I-94 is currently not programmed in the State Transportation Improvement Plan.
