Maryland Avenue Bridge webcam

On Aug. 18, 2012 crews moved the new Maryland Avenue Bridge to its permanent location. The bridge superstructure was built in an adjacent location moved into place with a Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SMPT) with 352 wheels. This innovative construction method reduced the amount of time that I-35E needed to be closed to replace the bridge. The SPMT moved the bridge in two sections, each weighing 1,300 tons.
