Maryland Avenue Bridge project
Status
This project is complete, and the Maryland Avenue Bridge spanning I-35E in St. Paul is now open to vehicle traffic. The bridge superstructure was built in a nearby location and moved into position with a Self-Propelled Modular Transporter, which reduced the length of the closure of Maryland Avenue to about 60 days. The total cost of the project was $14,119,182.
Benefits
-
Used an innovative construction method (Self-Propelled Modular Transporter) that allowed a very short duration closure of Maryland Avenue (about 60 days)
-
Made use of federal Highways for Life grant money to help facilitate the innovative construction method
