Median closure, detours begin next week on 181st Avenue NE at Highway 65 in East Bethel
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Construction crews will close the Highway 65 median at 181st Avenue on Tuesday morning, May 21, as work begins on the new reduced conflict intersection at the intersection in East Bethel. Motorists will need to follow a signed detour for 181st Avenue.
During the median closure, northbound traffic can use Crosstown Boulevard or the new intersection at 187th Lane and then go south on Highway 65 to reach 181st Avenue on the west side of the highway. Southbound Highway 65 traffic will be able to use Crosstown Boulevard to reach 181st Avenue on the east side of the highway.
Early this summer, MnDOT will close and detour 181st Avenue in both directions at Highway 65. Construction at 181st Avenue and Highway 65 will wrap up by the end of July 2019.
Detailed detour maps for the 181st Avenue closure are available at mndot.gov/metro/projects/hwy65rci/pdf/detour181st-stage1.pdf
Construction of RCIs and longer turn lanes will improve safety and mobility on the Highway 65 corridor between 85th Avenue in Spring Lake Park and Sims Road in East Bethel.
