New Reduced Conflict Intersection opens at Highway 65 and 187th Lane in East Bethel
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — As work winds down this fall on Hwy 65 in East Bethel and Ham Lake, the newly constructed Reduced Conflict Intersection at Hwy 65 and 187th Lane in East Bethel fully opened to traffic yesterday. The new intersection at Hwy 65 and 157th Avenue opened earlier this month. And although both intersections are now open, motorists will still encounter temporary short-term lane closures for finishing work.
Construction of left turn lane extensions between 85th Ave. in Spring Lake Park and Sims Road in East Bethel also will be completed by Friday evening, Oct. 26, weather permitting. The new left turn lane from westbound Hwy 10 to southbound Hwy 65 is completed but will remain closed until a new signal and pole is installed late this year.
Four additional RCIs will be built during the 2019 construction season at 143rd Avenue, 153rd Avenue, 181st Avenue and Viking Boulevard. The RCI at Viking Boulevard and Hwy 65 in East Bethel will be the first signalized RCI in Minnesota.
NOTE: A project by the city of Ham Lake to rebuild 147th Ave./148th Lane between Baltimore St. and Hastings St. will continue into next year.
