Weekend closure of southbound Interstate 35E scheduled in Columbus and Vadnais Heights for joint repair work Sept. 28-Oct. 1
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Southbound Interstate 35E will close on Friday, Sept. 28 through the morning of Monday, Oct. 1 to repair rough concrete pavement joints on the interstate between the I-35E/I-35W split in Columbus and Ramsey County Road 96 in Vadnais Heights, weather permitting.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28th, MnDOT will start closing ramps along the southbound interstate. The southbound roadway will close at 8 p.m. During the closure, there will be no access to the southbound interstate in the project area. Motorists will be able to reach northbound I-35E and roadways will remain open across I-35E.
Southbound I-35E motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour of southbound I-35W, eastbound Hwy 10, eastbound I-694 to I-35E.
If all goes as planned, the highway will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 1.
The concrete pavement joints in this area were created when the old blacktop surface was removed and replaced with a nine-inch concrete surface in 2011.
