I-35W lane closures over the Minnesota River in Burnsville, Bloomington begin Aug. 20
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists traveling on Interstate 35W between Cliff Road in Burnsville and 106th Street in Bloomington should plan for overnight delays as both directions of the road will be reduced to a single lane beginning Aug. 20.
Motorists will encounter nightly, alternating lane closures between Cliff Road and 106th Street beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 as crews begin preparing the road for future stages to replace the I-35W Minnesota River Bridge.
The road will be reduced to a single lane at 10 p.m. each night, weather permitting. All lanes are expected to open by 6 a.m. the following morning. These closures will be in place through September.
In addition, the I-35W ramps at Black Dog Road will close overnight from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Aug. 20-23:
- Black Dog Road to northbound I-35W will close Monday, Aug. 20
- Northbound I-35W to Black Dog Road will close Tuesday, Aug. 21
The lane restrictions mark the beginning of a multiyear project to replace the I-35W Minnesota River Bridge between Burnsville and Bloomington. The work will include reconstructing the I-35W Bridge spanning the Minnesota River and 106th Street, replacing pavement from Cliff Road to 106th Street and constructing a trail between Black Dog Road and Lyndale Avenue.
