Hwy 7 resurfacing project starts Monday, May 14
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin the Hwy 7 resurfacing project Monday, May 14. It is expected to be complete by late August 2018, weather permitting. It will extend from Baker Road in Minnetonka, just east of Interstate 494, to Louisiana Avenue in St. Louis Park.
The work consists of pavement restoration, drainage improvements and sidewalk ramp access improvements. It will result in smoother rides and safety improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
Motorists should not see any lane or ramp closures the first two weeks of the project.
Expect congestion and traffic delays along Hwy 7 through the duration of the project. Some night, weekend work and the usual construction noise are expected. Intersection closures are expected in the following areas:
- Oak Ridge / 5th Avenue North: Drainage work will temporarily close access to Hwy 7 from Oak Ridge/5th Avenue North: starting Tuesday, May 29
- Baker Road: Ramp to westbound Baker Road from Hwy 7 will be closed starting Tuesday, May 29
- Concurrent local projects on Blake Road/Aquila Avenue South and Texas Avenue will result in intersection closures starting during the month of June.
Closures are weather permitting and subject to change.
All businesses and residences will remain accessible throughout the project.
