Aesthetic lighting on I-35W St. Anthony Falls Bridge temporarily turned off for technology upgrades
ROSEVILLE, Minn. -- Crews this fall will temporarily turn off the aesthetic lighting on the St. Anthony Falls Bridge that carries Interstate 35W traffic over the Mississippi River.
The aesthetic lighting, which can be programmed to display different colors on special occasions and at the request of groups and organizations, will be turned off until Dec. 15.
The freeway will remain open and the freeway lights will operate.
The project is scheduled to start the week of Oct. 9. Crews will upgrade the technology, replace fixtures and add lights. The project is expected to cost $1.5 million.
Some lane and nighttime ramp closures are needed while crews work. The closures are expected to start in late October.
The I-35W St. Anthony Falls Bridge opened in 2008.
