MnDOT postpones southbound I-35E full closures this weekend between I-35 in Columbus and I-694 in Vadnais Heights...again
ROSEVILLE, Minn. —For the second weekend in a row, the Minnesota Department of Transportation is cancelling a planned weekend full closure of southbound Interstate 35E for concrete repairs in the northeast Twin Cities Metro area. Once again the closure has been cancelled due to the threat of rainy weekend weather.
MnDOT had planned to close the southbound roadway from Friday night until early Monday morning to complete repairs to contraction joints running across the full width of the highway between I-35 in Columbus and I-694 in Vadnais Heights. The joints allow the pavement to expand and contract with the rise and fall of temperatures, which helps prevent cracks or other damage to the pavement. Repairs to the northbound lanes of the interstate in the same area were made two weekends ago.
If weather cooperates next weekend, MnDOT will make repairs on the southbound roadway the weekend of Nov. 3 and 4.
