Hwy 243 Osceola Bridge work begins Sept. 11
Bridge to close for 3 weeks starting Tuesday, Sept. 12
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter construction activities on the Hwy 243/Osceola bridge throughout the day on Monday, Sept. 11 as crews set up to begin bridge work. The bridge will be open to traffic Sept. 11, while crews haul in equipment.
By morning rush hour, on Tuesday, Sept. 12, the Hwy 243/Osceola bridge spanning the St. Croix River will temporarily close. During the closure, all traffic will be directed to follow the posted detour north to cross the river at Taylors Falls.
Crews will be repairing the bridge deck, resurfacing road and repairing hillside erosion as part of the project. The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic by the end of day, Sept. 28, weather permitting. In addition, crews will need to conduct a 2-day closure at a later date to complete pavement work.
Access to the Osceola Landing will be maintained from the Minnesota side of the bridge throughout construction. All work is expected to be complete by Oct. 21. Once the project is complete, motorists will experience improved pavement and a smoother ride on the bridge.
