Safety improvement planned for Hwy 65 north of Interstate 694 in Fridley
Work begins Monday, September 12
Roseville, Minn. – A month-long project to improve safety at the ramp from westbound I-694 to Highway 65 and at the intersection of Highway 65 and Medtronic Parkway (County Road 35) in Fridley begins Monday, Sept. 12.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation plans to regrade the ditch along the ramp from westbound I-694 to northbound Highway 65 to reduce the steepness of the ditch and to improve drainage along the ramp.
At the same time, the turn lane from northbound Highway 65 to eastbound Medtronic Parkway/County Road 35 will be closed and all traffic will have to stop for the signal light before making a right turn. The traffic change will prohibit drivers from making a “free right” turn without stopping at the intersection to improve pedestrian safety. Along with the traffic change, the pedestrian crossing will also be upgraded to meet ADA standards.
All of the work is expected to be completed by mid-October.
