Westbound I-94 detour changes for this weekend’s southbound Hwy 52/Lafayette bridge closure in St. Paul
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The detour for westbound Interstate 94 traffic into downtown St. Paul has changed due to the need to close the ramp from the interstate to 6th Street at the east end of the downtown area. The new detour route will take westbound I-94 motorists off the interstate at Mounds Boulevard and direct them onto Kellogg Boulevard to reach downtown St. Paul.
Westbound I-94 traffic east of St. Paul can use I-494 or Highway 61 to reach Highway 52 south of the city. All other detours remain the same and drivers are encouraged to find an alternate route this weekend or follow the signed detours.
The southbound Highway 52/Lafayette bridge in St. Paul is closing this weekend so construction crews can apply a coating to the concrete driving surface of the bridge. The bridge, which crosses the Mississippi River east of downtown St. Paul, will close at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16 between Interstate 94 and Plato Boulevard, south of the river. It will reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19.

- 7th Street: Mounds Blvd to eastbound I-94 and follow the eastbound I-94 detour.
