Overnight lane and bridge closures scheduled on Interstate 35E in northeast metro on Aug. 1
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter overnight bridge and lane closures on Interstate 35E in the northeast metro area on Monday, Aug. 1.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, southbound I-35E between Highway 96 in White Bear Lake and County Road E in Vadnais Heights will be reduced to a single lane. Then at 8 p.m., northbound I-35E between County Road E and Highway 96 will be reduced to a single lane.
Southbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2 and northbound lanes will reopen by noon on Tuesday, Aug. 2.
In addition at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, the Highway 96 Bridge will close. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour. The bridge will reopen by 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones.
The lane closures are part of the two-year I-35E Goose Lake Road and Highway 96 road resurfacing project. In addition to resurfacing, the work includes widening the road, re-decking and widening the Highway 96 bridge, replacing the I-35E bridges over Goose Lake Road, updating drainage, repairing guardrail and constructing a trail. The work is expected to be complete by December 2016.
