Orange barrels on a highway

Lane closures near the I-94 construction area begin July 29

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter a lane closure near I-94 in St. Paul starting on Friday, July 29.

Beginning at 7 a.m., Friday, July 29, the right lane of northbound McKnight Road will close from Burns Avenue to just north of the I-94 overpass.

Motorists will still have access to McKnight Road from eastbound I-94. In addition, Hudson Place between McKnight Road and Crestview Drive is already closed.

Both closures will be in effect for approximately two weeks. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

The work is part of the larger two-year, 49.8 million Interstate 94 reconstruction and improvement project from Mounds Boulevard in St. Paul to just east of Century Avenue in Maplewood.

Additional work includes constructing and replacing noise walls, extending auxiliary lanes in specific locations, bridge maintenance, trail connections, updating signals and pedestrian access.

The construction will provide a smoother, safer, longer-lasting road with better pedestrian accessibility and improved drainage capabilities. Construction is expected to be complete by late-fall 2017.
