Orange barrels on a highway

Hwy 61 reconstruction project in Denmark Township scheduled to begin July 5

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will experience delays and congestion on Highway 61 in Denmark Township as crews begin road realignment work on Tuesday, July 5.

Beginning at 9 a.m., crews will be prepping the road for construction in both directions of Highway 61 from just north of Highway 10 in Cottage Grove to just south of 127th Street in Hastings.

The construction is part of a larger intersection rebuilding project which includes realigning Maycrest Avenue, resurfacing existing pavement, constructing southbound turn lanes and closing a median crossing. The work is expected to improve safety and traffic flow in the area.  For more information about the project, visit mndot.gov/metro/projects/hwy61and10/.

The work is expected to be complete by late fall, weather permitting. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slowdown in work zones.
