Orange barrels on a highway

Rice Street ramp to westbound I-694 closes Monday morning, June 13 in Shoreview

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — As work continues on the new third lane of westbound Interstate 694 between Rice Street in Vadnais Heights/Little Canada and Lexington Avenue in Arden Hills, the ramp from Rice Street to westbound I-694 will close at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 13. It will remain closed until the new third lane of the westbound interstate is completed in November.

During the closure, motorists will need to find an alternate route to reach the westbound interstate such as east on I-694 to Highway 61 and then back west on I-694.

During this year’s construction, MnDOT will keep two lanes of traffic open in each direction. Temporary lanes around the construction zone will separate traffic from construction work. Next year’s work will rebuild the eastbound lanes with the same traffic restrictions.

When complete in November 2017, the project will feature improved driver safety and accessibility, increased roadway capacity to lessen congestion and will provide a smoother road surface. In addition, the new roadway will enhance the movement of freight and support economic development.
