Overnight closures planned early next week for work on new County Road E2 bridge over I-35W in New Brighton, Arden Hills
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Interstate 35W will close overnight next Monday and Tuesday, June 13 and 14 to allow crews to set beams for the new Ramsey County Road E2 bridge crossing the interstate between New Brighton and Arden Hills.
Work begins with the west end of the bridge over southbound I-35W on Monday, June 13. Crews will restrict traffic about 7 p.m. and then close southbound I-35W at 10 p.m. During the closure, traffic will be routed in a single lane up and down the County Road E2 ramps until all beams are set into place about 6 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Northbound I-35W will be closed and detoured beginning at 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 14 until 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 15 to set beams for the east end of the bridge over the northbound interstate. During the closure, motorists will follow a signed detour on Highway 36 and Snelling Avenue. Local traffic will be able to travel on northbound I-35W as far north as County Road D.
When completed in late August, the new County Road E2 bridge will improve access across I-35W and improve safety for bicycles and pedestrians. The new bridge also will be a longer lasting, smoother, wider and more modern structure.
