Bridge reconstruction, resurfacing on Hwy 36 in Roseville begins Monday, April 18
Project includes two improved bridges crossing Lexington Avenue
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Reconstruction of the aging Highway 36 bridge crossing Lexington Avenue in Roseville begins Monday, April 18. As work begins, the ramps between eastbound Highway 36 and Lexington Avenue will close at 9 a.m. and remain closed until September.
Following the closure, construction crews will begin building a new bypass south of the existing bridge to carry traffic during bridge work. Work will require some off-peak and nighttime lane closures on Highway 36 and local residents may experience some noise.
During the closure, traffic will follow a signed detour:
- Eastbound Highway 36: Exit at Dale Street and use County Road B or County Road C to reach Lexington Avenue
- Lexington Avenue: Use County Road B or County Road C to Dale Street to reach eastbound Highway 36
Lexington Avenue will close after Memorial Day for final work on the bypass. Highway 36 traffic will be shifted onto the new bypass lanes and the westbound ramps at Highway 36 will close prior to bridge demolition in early June.
Resurfacing of Highway 36 between Hamline Avenue and Victoria Street, along with reconstruction of the Lexington Avenue and westbound Hamline Avenue ramps, is expected to begin in mid-summer.
Highway 36 will remain two lanes in each direction throughout the work, although motorists may encounter occasional lane closures during the work.
When completed in mid-November 2016, the new bridge will be a longer lasting, smoother, wider and more modern structure.
