Hwy 61 road reconstruction in White Bear Lake begins June 9
Expect lane closures and delays in the work zone
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will experience lane closures and delays on Hwy 61 in White Bear Lake as crews begin resurfacing the roadway on Monday, June 9.
Starting at 7 a.m., both directions of Hwy 61 between White Bear Avenue and just north of Hwy 96 will be reduced to one lane.
In addition to road resurfacing, the project will include installing lighting, updating pedestrian crossings to meet accessibility standards, constructing a pedestrian trail, upgrading traffic and railway signals, replacing storm drains and other infrastructure.
The work is expected to be complete by fall 2014, weather permitting.
MnDOT and the city of White Bear Lake worked together on this project to gain the most value possible for the public. The $5.3 million resurfacing and improvement project will provide a smoother, safer, long-lasting roadway with better pedestrian accessibility and improved drainage capabilities. This work helps ensure MnDOT’s transportation system will continue to serve the state for many years.
