Hwy 62 at Hwy 169 in Edina, Eden Prairie closing May 2–4
Southbound Hwy 169 entrance ramp from Valley View Road to close May 4
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists traveling on Highway 62 will encounter a detour near the Highway 169 interchange in Edina and Eden Prairie May 2–4.
Highway 62 will close in both directions at 10 p.m. Friday, May 2, as crews begin reconstructing the southbound Highway 169 bridge deck. Highway 62 will reopen by noon Sunday, May 4.
Motorists traveling eastbound on Highway 62 will be detoured to southbound Highway 169, eastbound Interstate 494 and northbound Highway 100. Westbound Highway 62 traffic will be detoured to northbound Highway 169, westbound I-394 and southbound Highway 169.
Traffic on southbound Highway 169 will be detoured to westbound Highway 212 and eastbound I-494. All lanes of northbound Highway 169 will remain open to traffic.
The entrance ramp to southbound Highway 169 from Valley View Road will close at noon Sunday, May 4, as crews resurface the road. The ramp will reopen by July 3.
Reconstruction of the bridge deck is part of a larger construction project on Highway 169 that will require two additional weekend closures of Highway 169 and Highway 62 through September. Additional work will include:
- Reconstructing the northbound bridge deck over Highway 62.
- Resurfacing the Valley View Road and Highway 62 entrance/exit ramps.
- Installing guardrails and improving drainage systems.
- Resurfacing northbound Highway 169 between Bren Road and Valley View Road.
The resurfacing project features concrete repair. Performing periodic concrete pavement repairs at the correct time can greatly increase a road’s lifespan before costly reconstruction is needed.
The project is scheduled for completion in mid-September, weather permitting. Highway 169 motorists will experience a smoother, safer road surface once completed.
