I-94 closed this weekend for bridge demolition in St. Paul
ROSEVILLE, Minn.— Both directions of I-94 in St. Paul will close this weekend as crews continue work on the Hwy 52 Lafayette Bridge east of downtown St. Paul.
The road will close at 10 p.m. Friday, April 25 and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, April 28, weather permitting. Westbound I-94 will be closed between Hwy 61 and I-35E. Eastbound I-94 will be closed from I-35E to Mounds Boulevard.
Motorists should use the following detours to bypass the closure.
- Eastbound I-94: Northbound I-35E to eastbound I-694 to I-94.
- Westbound I-94: Westbound I-94 to southbound I-35E or southbound Hwy 61 to westbound I-494 to Hwy 52.
During the closure, the Lafayette Bridge will remain open. However there will be no access from northbound Hwy 52 to westbound I-94. Access to southbound Hwy 52 will only be possible from I-35E.
This weekend's work is part of the Highway 52 Lafayette bridge project and involves removing part of a ramp bridge over the interstate north of the bridge--but it doesn't affect the actual Lafayette Bridge.
