Detour change—Weekend road closure of Louisiana Ave in St. Louis Park begins Oct. 25
Closure will require motorists to find alternative routes
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists traveling on Louisiana Avenue, south of Hwy 7 in St. Louis Park, will encounter a weekend road closure and a detour beginning Oct. 25 as crews build a new bypass at the Hwy 7 and Louisiana Avenue intersection.
At 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, both directions of Louisiana Avenue between Hwy 7 and West Lake Street will close. The roadway will re-open by 5.a.m., Monday, Oct. 28. Motorists should use Blake Road, Excelsior Boulevard, Louisiana Avenue and West Lake Street to access local businesses and to bypass the closure.
The project includes converting the existing intersection into an interchange, constructing a diamond interchange with a Hwy 7 bridge spanning Louisiana Avenue, adding roundabouts on Louisiana Avenue at the West Lake Street and Walker Street intersections, reconfiguring West Lake Street and Walker Street, and adding pedestrian and bicycle upgrades that meet modern accessibility requirements.
The purpose of the project, led by the City of St. Louis Park, is to improve access, safety and operations for several modes of transportation including vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle modes, transit and freight flow.
Project information including closures, detours and a construction schedule will be available on the project’s Web site www.mndot.gov/metro/projects/hwy7stlouispark/ as the project progresses.
