Orange barrels on a highway

Roadway improvement project on Hwy 65/Viking Boulevard begins Sept. 9

The project includes a full weekend road closure and intermittent lane closures

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists may encounter delays and off-peak lane closures on both directions of Hwy 65  just north and south of Viking Boulevard on Monday, Sept. 9.

Beginning at 9 a.m., both directions of Hwy 65 at Viking Boulevard in East Bethel will experience intermittent lane closures as crews begin lengthening the left turn lanes on the Hwy.

In addition, at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, Viking Boulevard just east of Hwy 65 will close as crews remove and replace the culvert under the roadway.  Motorists will not be able to travel east on Viking Boulevard past the Hwy 65 intersection. Viking Boulevard west of Hwy 65 will remain open.
Motorists should plan to slow down and drive with caution through the work zone.
The road will re-open by 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23.

The entire roadway improvement project is expected to be complete by Friday, Sept. 27, weather permitting.

Extending the left turn lanes will shorten wait times, improve safety and traffic flow on the Hwy as well as lower the risk of rear-end crashes by reducing the need for turning motorists to begin slowing down while still in the through lanes of Hwy 65.
