Another weekend closure of I-494 in Bloomington/Richfield begins Sept. 6
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Beginning Sept. 6, motorists traveling in Bloomington/Richfield will encounter a weekend road closure and detour on eastbound Interstate 494 between I-35W and Highway 100 as crews resurface the roadway.
At 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, eastbound I-494 between I-35W and Highway 100 will close. The roadway will re-open by 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9. Traffic will be detoured around the closure via I-35W, Highway 62, Highway 77 and Highway 100. The westbound I-494 lanes will remain open during the closure of the eastbound lanes.
The work is part of the I-494 improvement project. The overall project will improve the flow of traffic, improve the road surface for motorists, reduce roadway maintenance needs by replacing guard rails with concrete median barriers and improve future opportunities that match local development goals due to replacement of the Xerxes Avenue Bridge.
