Roadway ramps on I-394/494 in Plymouth/Minnetonka scheduled to close Sept. 19 and 23

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists on Interstate 394 in Minnetonka and Plymouth will encounter two ramp closures this week as crews continue improving the roadway and associated ramps.

At 10 p.m., Sept. 19, the ramp from westbound I-394 to southbound I-494 will close. The ramp will re-open at 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20.

In addition, on Monday, Sept. 23, the northbound I-494 ramp to westbound Highway 12 will close. The ramp will re-open in late October.

During the ramp closures, motorists are advised to follow the detour using northbound  I-494 and Carlson Parkway. The project will be complete by late October.

The closure is part of a roadway project will improve the flow of traffic on westbound I-394 by removing the weaving from through lanes and providing better access to I-494.  The improvements include reconfiguring the exit ramps to northbound I-494 and southbound I-494 from one exit to two exits, extending the westbound auxiliary lane through the Plymouth Road interchange, resurfacing the roadway, and upgrading the roadway drainage system and striping the road.
