Orange barrels on a highway

Weekend closure of northbound I-35W in Burnsville will begin Sept. 13

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists traveling northbound on Interstate 35W in Burnsville will encounter a detour and delays as crews close the roadway to repair a bridge spanning the interstate.  In addition, motorists will encounter lane closures at prior to the I-35/35W/35E split between Lakeville and Burnsville beginning Friday, Sept. 13.

At 10 p.m. northbound I-35W will close between the I-35/35W/I-35E split and Highway 13 as crews make repairs on the Highway 13 Bridge spanning the interstate.

Motorists are advised to follow the signed detour using northbound I-35E, Cedar Avenue and I-494 in order to bypass the closure.

In addition, northbound I-35 will be a single lane between County Road 50 and the I-35/35W/35E split beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13.

All lanes on I-35W and I-35 north of Highway 50 are scheduled to open by 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16.

All work is weather permitting.
