I-394 ramp improvement project in Minnetonka begins Sept. 16
Project includes roadway/interchange ramp and loop closures
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter delays and detours on Interstate 394 between Plymouth Road and the I-394/494 interchange as crews reconfigure the exit ramps and extend an auxiliary lane on the interstate.
Beginning at 10 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, crews will shift both directions of traffic on I-394 between Plymouth Road and I-494 to the south side of the roadway. Traffic will remain on one side of the roadway until the project is complete in late October.
On Monday, Sept. 16, crews will close the Plymouth Road ramp to westbound I-394.
The project also includes closing the I-494 loop to westbound Highway 12 for five days and closing the westbound I-394 ramp to northbound I-494 for approximately 30 days. Specific information about the ramp and loop closures will be announced as soon as they are determined.
During the road closures, motorists are advised to follow the signed detours using the I-394/494 interchange loops and Hopkins Crossroads.
The 40-day project will improve the flow of traffic on westbound I-394 by removing the weaving from through lanes and providing better access to I-494. The project includes reconfiguring the exit ramps to northbound I-494 and southbound I-494 from one exit to two exits, extending the westbound auxiliary lane through the Plymouth Road interchange, resurfacing the roadway and upgrading the drainage system and stripping the road.
