Fourth weekend road closure of Hwy 169 begins August 9
Roadway will close between Brooklyn Park and Golden Valley
Roseville, Minn. – Beginning August 9, motorists will encounter a weekend road closure and a detour on northbound Hwy 169 as crews continue resurfacing the road.
At 9 p.m. Friday, August 9, northbound Hwy 169 between Hwy 55 and 77th Avenue/Brooklyn Boulevard will close. Weather permitting, the roadway and associated ramps will re-open by 5 a.m., Monday, August 12. This closure is the fourth of four weekend closures scheduled for northbound Hwy 169.
During the closure, motorists should use County Road 81 and Interstates I-694/I-94, I-394, and I-494 and Hwy 100 as alternative routes.
Throughout the past 10 years, extensive repairs to the 7.5 mile stretch of the highway have prolonged the life of the road. Current cracks in the road, declining pavement ride quality indexes and drainage issues necessitate pavement reconstruction. The $12.2 million project will improve the existing and future mobility of the road and provide a smoother road surface. The project also includes installing new guardrails, and improving bus lanes and pedestrian accessibility.
