Hwy 61 roundabout restriping project in Forest Lake begins Aug. 14
Intersection open to traffic during the one-day project, expect minor delays
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists may experience minor delays at the Hwy 61 and Broadway Avenue intersection in Forest Lake as crews begin a day-long restriping project at the existing roundabout.
Beginning at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, crews will restripe the roundabout from a two-lane to a single-lane roundabout.
The intersection will remain open during the work. Motorists should plan to slow down and drive with caution through the work zone.
The work is scheduled to be complete by 6 p.m., Aug. 14, weather permitting.
The single-lane roundabout is easier to use and expected to further decrease crashes and reduce minor fender benders at the intersection.
Studies show roundabouts are a proven safety improvement and contribute to better fuel efficiency. In addition, roundabouts facilitate smoother traffic flow and fewer traffic delays. For more information about roundabouts in Minnesota, visit www.dot.state.mn.us/roundabouts/.
