The final weekend closure of southbound Hwy 169 begins August 16
Southbound lanes will close between Brooklyn Park and Golden Valley
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists traveling in Brooklyn Park and Golden Valley will encounter a lane closure and a detour on southbound Hwy 169 between 77th Avenue and Hwy 55 as crews resurface the roadway.
At 9 p.m. Friday, August 16, southbound Hwy 169 between Hwy 55 in Golden Valley/Plymouth and 77th Avenue in Brooklyn Park/Maple Grove will close. All southbound lanes will re-open by 5 a.m., Monday, August 19.
During the closure, motorists should use County Road 81, interstates 94, 394, and 494 and Hwy 100 as alternative routes.
Prior to this weekend, motorists have experienced seven weekend closures of this segment of the highway.
Weather permitting this weekend’s closure will be the last closure. Throughout the past 10 years, extensive repairs to the 7.5 mile stretch of the highway have prolonged the life of the road. Current cracks in the road, declining pavement ride quality indexes and drainage issues necessitate pavement reconstruction. The $12.2 million project will improve the existing and future mobility of the road and provide a smoother road surface. The project also includes installing new guardrails, and improving bus lanes and pedestrian accessibility.
