Hwy 47 lane closures and traffic shifts begin on August 19
Traffic delays are expected
Roseville, Minn. – Motorists traveling in Northeast Minneapolis next week will encounter lane closures and traffic shifts on Hwy 47 as crews begin paving the roadway.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, August 19, crews will close the southbound lanes of Hwy 47 (University Avenue) between 3rd Avenue and 27th Avenue to pave the road. Traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction on the northbound side of the road. Once the work is complete, crews will shift traffic onto the newly paved road, and traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction on the southbound side of the road. All lanes will re-open by the early evening Wednesday, August 21.
On Saturday, August 24, traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction on one side of the highway between Central Avenue and 3rd Avenue and at the Hwy 47 and Broadway Street intersection as crews continue paving operations. The lanes will re-open by early Saturday evening.
The Hwy 47 resurface project includes preserving the road pavement, making necessary drainage repairs, repairing curbs and gutters, and repairing pedestrian ramps. The project will provide a smoother road surface, reduced short-term maintenance costs and improved pedestrian access along the 2.17 miles of busy roadway.
