Orange barrels on a highway

Overnight closures on Hwy 47 in Minneapolis start July 29

Crews will replace the drainage pipes beneath the roadway

Roseville, Minn. – Motorists traveling in Northeast Minneapolis will encounter two overnight road closures on University Avenue as crews continue making improvements to the road.

Beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 29 and again on Wednesday, July 31, both directions of Hwy 47 (University Avenue) between Broadway Street and Lowry Avenue will close. The roadway will re-open by 5 a.m. on the following days.

Motorists should use Broadway Street, Central Avenue and Lowry Avenue to bypass the closure.

The Hwy 47 resurfacing project includes preserving the road pavement, making necessary drainage repairs, repairing curbs and gutters, and repairing pedestrian ramps. The project will provide a smoother road surface, reduced short-term maintenance costs and improved pedestrian access along the 2.17 miles of busy roadway.
